What to when going away for a weekend?

I need to go out of town the first weekend in May. My chicks will be between 5 and 6 weeks at the time. As long as I provide extra food and water, will they be fine from a Friday to a Sunday? Should I test this out before I leave for the weekend to make sure they are ok?

I'm a first time chicken mom.

My adult chickens have been fine for a weekend. If yours are off supplemental heat, I would think they would be.

I always set up an extra food and water station to be safe, and double check their run is secure from predators before we go.

You can also ask a friend or neighbor to peek at them. We often do that, especially if it’s more than 48 hours.

In a secure coop with food and water they'll be fine.
