What took my chickens?

Mine are nice until I try to pick them up lol
Lol I have a barred rock who will eat from my hand and walk around me but as soon as I try to pet or grab her she starts running and screaming bloody murder. Other than that everyone is super sweet

Having game cameras can alert you to predators scoping out your place. (Foxes are the worst )Unfortunately chickens don't always scream when being attacked by predators. Sometimes they panic & freeze which makes them easier to kill.

Yep, and if they are fairly young they will often just huddle together in a corner or under something hoping not to be noticed.

I also say fox.
I've had fox issues a couple times. I had dogs loose in my large yard where the chickens were and had one fox take 8 chickens in daylight hours without the dogs noticing.
I finally noticed and discovered it was grabbing them and stacking them just over the fence in the pasture.
There were no signs left in the yard.
If you have a pair or family in the area it wouldn't be hard for them.
Now as for people. I think they'd have a lot harder time getting away without disturbing the dogs and probably not an easy time snatching 15 unpenned birds.

LOL i dont think thats uncommon. Mine i can pick up easiest in their run before i let them out for the day, if i scoop any up during the day its cus i catch them in a corner somewhere where i can get em. lol.
#1 reason for keeping chickens in a run is you don't have to chase them far !lol:th
