What treat did your chickies get today?

My girls got kale and boiled eggs with a little cheese, a cucumber and some dried mealworms.

Found out a treat they don't like......the outer leaves of brusselsprouts! I gave them lot's and lot's of them last week.

Today I spent awhile out in their run picking them all up.....

My little flock of ten babies just got cooked oatmeal with smooshed strawberries mixed in for breakfast...a nice change from the scrambled egg they usually get

My girls got a bowl full of mixed veggies, zucchini , later on they got dates, oats, wheat bread.they were thrilled. Now for the rest of the day pellets. Tomorrow I have Hominy with tripe my mom made. I hate it but we shall see if the chickens like it lol.

Over the weekend, mine got a cabbage head hung on a string from the roof of their covered run to snack on. Sunday afternoon they got what was left over from our spiral cut ham. They picked it right down to the bone!

Since we are having some remarkably warm weather, my five-day-old chicks got some playtime in the backyard today. One found some kind of tiny grub, and after a bit of work, managed to eat it. I was so proud!

I gave the girls some green peas, i thought they were really enjoying them at first yet I noticed they did'nt eat all of them and it was only a cup of them.
