What tricks does your dog(s) know?

I still run into people who don't bother training their dog. I will not have an untrained dog in my house around a child. That's just me.

My Papillon Zeke knows a lot of tricks and useful behaviors. He is my retired obedience demonstration dog.

He knows: Sit, Down, Wait, Sit-stay, Down-stay, Come here, Right Here (informal heel), Strike (speak), Roll over, crawl, Over (an object), Under (an object), Whisper (silent bark), Shake (paw), Other Paw (shake opposite paw), High Five, Back Up, Stand, Bang (play dead from stand position), Get 'em (play attack), Bring (fetch), Give (release toy or other object), No (command to let him know he's not doing the right thing), Come Up (jump up to my arms, or on to another person or object), Salute (paw over eye), Quiet (stop barking), Spin (turn 360 to the right), Twirl (turn 360 to the left), Sit Pretty, Paws Up (front paws on to a surface), Fooey (informal no command), Automatic Sit at corners on a walk, Automatic sit when stopped any time during a walk, Leave-it, Ok (release from any command), Go See (release to greet a stranger or other animal), Who's That? (command to give a barking alert when there is a stranger near), Go Potty (pee), Go Benjo (poo).... gosh there are more but i can't think of them now.

My GSD Foenix knows more formal Obedience, agility and bitework commands.

He knows: Sitz (sit), Platz (down) Shtay (stand), Blibe (stay), Pas auf (watch someone, aggressive alert to a person), Paken (bite or attack), Nein (no), Fooey (informal no), Fus (formal heel), Aus (release a person) Right Here (informal heel), Hup (jump over or on to an object), Geblaut (bark or speak), Say hello (shake paw), Other Paw (opposite paw), knows all commands except for aggression on command in English too, Spin, Twirl, Roll over, Sit Pretty, Hold (an object), Be Still (hold very still to place something on his nose for him to catch), Over (an object), Under (an object), Turn Around (turn 180), Off (of something or someone), Wait, Go Out (run out in a straight line), Search (for a person or object), Bring, Hold, Give (all commands for a formal fetch sequence), Go Potty (poo or pee), Get A Drink (yes on command

), Guard (an object), Catch (food, toy ect) Get Back (back up from a door or person)..there are more for him too but I can't think of the rest.

I want to teach Buck to heel and to let me know when someone enters the room. I take him to work with me at night because I don't usually get out until 9:30 and its by myself at a mall. The exit is a bus stop for three not so mich areas, so it can get pretty spooky. Anyways, I want him to be able to alert me if someone comes into the store when I'm in the back. Our bathroom, fridge, and sink are all in the back room and you can't see or hear if someone comes in. Since he's there, I thought it'd make him a bit more useful. Also, I'm trying to train him to be a therapy dog. For the most part, he knows everything to pass the test. I just need to teach him to heel and to go over and "say hi" to people. He's very outgoing and always looking forward to meeting people, but he always comes right back, as if he's looking for reassurance.

Shelleyd: I'm with you on not having untrained dogs. I find them pesky and rude. Everyone is shocked that I have a 17 month old lab and he's well behaved. I tell them frankly that I won't tolerate bad manners in my dog so he had to learn to behave.

Jamie: That's amazing. I'd love to teach Buck that stuff. He's actually really smart for being a fairly young unneutered lab. I think that he'd be able to learn a lot of it, provided I knew how to teach it.

My husband , who has apparently alot of time on his hands taught our 2 year old dog a very bad thing.

He says" show me your cooter,Lilly" and she rolls onto her back.
Sometimes I think that man is stuck at age 15.


And lilly is smart enough to do anything for a treat.. that little hussy

Here is a video of my dog Gabby she does a few more tricks like bow but also the basic obedience stuff she can heal, sit, stay and has pretty good recall. Not bad for a shelter dog we got when she was one.

but her tricks are
head turn right
head turn left. not quite smooth enough to look like she is shaking her head no yet, but we are working in it.
put her paw to her face.
and shake.

But my favorite is FREE FOOD!! when I drop something she can have, otherwise she pretty much knows to leave it.

I just really love her.

my maltese plays peekaboo..been doing it since he was a puppy... it s the only trick he will do... he loves it... we play almost every night at bed time

All-right, it's kibble time! (She runs into the kitchen to be fed.)
Sit. (She sits for a nano-second.)
Come on in. (She comes in the house if she feels like it.)
