This chick was sold to us as a Splash Marans. However, while it does have the feathered legs of a Marans, it has a pea comb. It came from a local breeder that specializes in Marans, but also has Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers. This chick doesn't appear to have puffy cheeks or beard. The breeder said that the pea comb could just be a rare result of the recessive genes that result in splash varieties. Has anyone had that before or do I have a Marans/Ameraucana or Easter Egger mix? No big deal, I'm just curious.
