What type of container do you use to call your chicks?

Speaking of dog training, I whistled for the dog the other day and all of the chickens came running fast as can be and the dog just stood there looking at her horse (she is a Border Collie and thinks its her sheep).

It can take quite awhile for them to associate the sound to the treat so it may be you need to give them more time. Just be consistant with the association and it will come when they are ready to learn it. I usually use ' chook, chook, chook', but I may switch to a whistle cuz it carries pretty far.

My Hubby taught the cats to come to 'soooo-EEEE, Pig, Pig, Pig' by giving them wet kitty food every time they came so it works no matter how smart the animals in question are...

I use a sound vs a container. I call them by saying "chick, chick, chick". They come running because they know I have food in my hand.
