what type of ducks should I get?

My favorite to look at are Cayuga. They’re an absolutely stunning duck to look at.

I really like our Buffs, but the females are quite loud.

My quietest males and females are definitely my Magpie. They’re beautiful to look at, great layers, and fairly quiet (at least my five are).

Thank You Daphne_loves_mealworms for the feedback! Do you have any Rouen Drake’s? If so, are they quieter than Daphne?

Daphne is the only Rouen I have, so no Rouen drakes. Until two weeks ago, I had a Pekin duck, Margie, who was quieter than Daphne. Now I have two Muscovy ducklings (unknown genders, although I think at least 1 is female). They just make cute little peeping noises to each other.

Thanks Daphne_loves_mealworms for replying to my question! I did some more research on the muscovy and they are the only duck not related to the mallard so they don;t quak really loud. Those seem like good breeds!

With the ducks I've known personally, like the other posters have said, Rouen and Buffs are loud. So were the Pekins. The Blue Swedish were a mixed lot. The two Cayuga I know are very very quiet and only seem to quack when scared or very eager for the snacks you are holding

I would suggest drakes since their cries are raspy and not annoying like a hen duck can be. For breeds I'd say to consider Cayuga or Muscovy. I can't really say for the others since I don't have experience with them. Ducks are very individual and some are quiet and then grow to be very talkative lol

Muscovy are quieter but not really Ducks. Another species.
Calls are fantastic Ducks. The Hens do Quack and can be a bit loud at times though. Most Ducks Quack..
