What type of hay?

This last summer when I had duckling I bought a bale of horse bedding pellets and I really like them. First time I had ever used them. I don't think I'd use on new hatchlings but for 2 weeks on I liked them.

Noodling and scratching around is a different concept of chickens and Ducks.

Means the same to me just one uses their feet the other their bills.

We use alfalfa hay in the 7x10 pen for overnighting. They search through the hay for worms, which we throw in for stimulation. I've never had them eat it, but then again they also have a food tray in the pen so maybe they don't feel the need to eat it. I find the hay is easy to work with I fluff it just about everyday for aeration and general cleaning. Poop is easy to remove.

I know that, i was talking about chickens, but the ducks "noodle" or dig around it alot too

Ah, true. I wouldn't use hay for baby Storm. Pine shavings are working well for her.

The chickens are just easter egger mixes, one rooster 3 hens
i have a pekin some kahki campbells, a silver appleyard hen and a rouen
