I am just curious as to what vitamins or supplements or both, that people use. I am using the ACV in the water, DE in the food, and brooder and dust pan. Right now they're 2 week old chicks, but I also feed mealworms, cheerios(for treats) and they won't touch yogurt--yet! I wanted to try the spirulina for when they get older around laying age, at least in the winter when they won't have that many greens due to the snow and whatnot. Any feedback would be awesome! complete feeds that you can buy from the store have all the vitimins and minerals a growing chick needs. the meal worms are a great source of protein, something they definatly need when they are growing as fast as they are.
As for feeding over the winter a complete feed will work here to. however I usually give my chickens some cracked corn onece a day to provide them with the calories they need to stay wam in the winters in MI. the cracked corn also keeps them from eating a ton of the complete feed to stay warm.

My chickens get to free range most days and have layer pellets available at all times. When green stuff is not available in our pasture I soak some alfalfa cubes (you buy them in bags like feed for horses and such) and feed those to the chickens, maybe some scratch or corn if it's cold.

Thanks for your help. I am definitely going to try the soaked alfalfa cubes, I have them on hand anyways from my horses. [IMG]
