I have 3, 17 week old chickens and I have a suspicion one of them has laid an egg.
It’s very small and the same colour the chicken came out!
The first egg is from a hybrid, the second is from my silkie and the third is the suspected youngster.
Thoughts?

the 2 eggs at the top of the pic are from an EE at 6 months old they are smaller than an older EE hen (3rd down on left) The lighter chickens lay sooner I think my EEs are heavy birds, and birds like LO, or Wyandottes do take longer to lay.View attachment 1984489
Ah I see well mine are Wyandotte’s so maybe it was an odd egg from my silkie since she’s just started laying after being broody :)

I have had a few pullets start laying by 17 weeks before. It's always a nice surprise to get eggs several weeks before you expected them! :D
That’s the thing! It’s winter so they’re a little inconsistent with egg laying and they’ve started laying eggs in a bonfire heap so I have to go on an egg hunt every day! It’s madness but it makes my boring days a lot less boring diving into a big pile of dead trees and old fencing to retrieve eggs :D

Hi everyone, pic is of the first egg (laid today) by one of our 3 newbies - a RIR, a Welsummer and a Needwood (cream) Legbar. Think I can rule out the Welsummer but not sure which of the RIR or Legbar laid this - the RIR was in the nestbox quietly clucked when we spoke, then came out and we found this little cream coloured egg nicely warm in the nest

(the brown one is a shop bought medium egg for comparison), can anyone help please as never had these breeds before ??
Realise the Legbar should lay blue eggs but could this be a 'first attempt' :clap??
