It’s very small and the same colour the chicken came out!
The first egg is from a hybrid, the second is from my silkie and the third is the suspected youngster.

Wowzas! This is quite excitingBoth of my Leghorns started laying right at 4 months and I've had others that started at 4.5 months so it's possible!
Ah I see well mine are Wyandotte’s so maybe it was an odd egg from my silkie since she’s just started laying after being broodythe 2 eggs at the top of the pic are from an EE at 6 months old they are smaller than an older EE hen (3rd down on left) The lighter chickens lay sooner I think my EEs are heavy birds, and birds like LO, or Wyandottes do take longer to lay.View attachment 1984489
That’s the thing! It’s winter so they’re a little inconsistent with egg laying and they’ve started laying eggs in a bonfire heap so I have to go on an egg hunt every day! It’s madness but it makes my boring days a lot less boring diving into a big pile of dead trees and old fencing to retrieve eggsI have had a few pullets start laying by 17 weeks before. It's always a nice surprise to get eggs several weeks before you expected them!![]()
