What watt bulb is the best?

I'm making an incubator. What kind of watt bulb do I use?

I used a 40 watt in my cooler bator. Some people use a 25.. I guess it depends on the size of the bator you are building.

I think it would depend partially on how big the incubator is. I've read on BYC that people have used 25, 40 and 60 watt bulbs with success. I built a bator about 2 weeks ago and used a 25 watt bulb, but it is only 13" x 11" x 12" with 1 1/2" thick sides. I haven't added any eggs yet because I just put a thermostat in this week. It has been running for 2 days and the air temp is steady at 100.4 as shown in the picture. I've got a larger cooler (approx 24" x 18" x 14") that I will probably use to build another one and will start with a 40w bulb due to the larger size. Good luck with your hatch!!
