Just recently ive caught 2 of my roosters trying to mate with one of my ducks. Ive been on the look out for hens. Someone just posted on the local freecyle that they have 2 leghorn hens that have stopped laying. Im not that interested in eggs, i would just like the focus to be taken off my duck. But i dont want these 2 hens to get killed or be constantly stressed. I know about quarantining and plan on doing that whenever i do get hens. Should i get these 2 hens or wait until i can get a bunch more at once?

Background: A week or 2 before easter this year, my friend bought 3 ducklings and 3 chicks from TSC because she always wanted a duck but they wouldnt sell her just one so her and her now ex b/f decided to get 3 and 3. I ended up with 3 chicks and 2 ducks because their dog killed one of the ducks and they got tired of cleaning up after them. Well the chicks grew into 3 roosters and im positive 1 of the pekin ducks is a female. The other im still not sure about.

I have one rooster for 13 hens and he stays busy breeding them. I wouldnt personally have 2 rooster. They say you need at least 6 hens per rooster. Try to rehome one of your roosters and if you can get your ducks to a pond then they will thrive better also.

Pond is out of the question. Besides everyone ive talked to said that pekins dont need a pond, never the less i have provided them a kiddy pool.

I always thought that you could only have one rooster but when i found out that all 3 turned out to be roosters i did a search on this site for "multiple roosters" and threads said that if they are raised together there is little problems having multiple roosters. With mine there are some squabbles but nothing serious. When they start to get their spurs i plan on dremeling them down.
