I have a Cochin bantam rooster 2 yrs old who has lost his crow and has lost the color in his face, He seems to have lost some weight but isn't bony, Noticed this end of last week when I didn't hear him crowing along with my game bantam roo. They forage on 1/2 acre fenced property get wormed monthly with VermX eat fermented feed also. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have a total of 18 chickens and there is one more acting weird also a hen Blk Australorp a yr old in April,No gaping and no worms in poop.

Sounds like he may be getting anemic from something.

Since VermX is a natural wormer from what I read (I have never used it), I would consider taking a poo sample in to a vet for a fecal float for worms/cocci, and also a bacterial check if it were me- or I would try worming him with a chemical wormer to see if that helped. False negatives are possible for the worms test. If you worm your whole flock remember to toss eggs (on BYC I have read a couple of weeks is a good length of time to toss eggs) if you use a wormer that isn't approved for egglaying hens.

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure there aren't mites hiding in the cracks of the coop and coming out at night. I am sure you check your birds for bugs but this can escape attention unless you routinely spray/dust your coops with poultry dust.

I hope you can find the reason and hope they get better soon!
