If you check out Snopes, the Mythbusters of Urban Legends, you'll see that this is not by Bill Cosby.

Since we seem to be expressing our opinion, I'll express mine.
(1) "Press 1 for English" is immediately banned. English is the official language; speak it or wait at the border until you can.
I personally do not have a real problem with first generation immigrants not speaking great English. I'm sure some of my ancestors did not speak great English when they first got here. I do have a problem with second generation Americans not speaking English and I really envy those that can speak English and other languages.
(2) We will immediately go into a two year isolationist posture to straighten out the country's attitude. NO imports, no exports. We will use the '
Wal-Mart's policy, 'If we ain't got it, you don't need it.'
Give up my coffee? Yeah, that will teach those other countries. And stop importing the rare metals that we don't have. That will stop our medical advances, computer advances, and just throw our own economy into such a tailspin we'll lose a lot of our current advantage.
(3) When imports are allowed, there will be a 100% import tax on it.
Yeah, that will keep our costs down. And when all other countries impose a retaliatory import tax on our goods, we're back where we started. A real good longterm solution.
(4) All retired military personnel will be required to man one of our many observation towers on the southern border. (Six month tour) They will be under strict orders not to fire on SOUTHBOUND aliens.
Retired military personnel have served our country honorably. I don't always agree with where they are told to serve by their commander in chief, but that is not their fault. To shoot down unarmed men, women and children you don't need retired military. You need to recruit the thugs that are drug dealers and in the serious gangs. They are used to shooting down armed and unarmed people.
(5) Social security will immediately return to its original state. If you didn't put nuttin in, you ain't gettin nuttin out. The president nor any other politician will not be able to touch it.
I don't have the answer to social security.
(6) Welfare - Checks will be handed out on Fridays at the end of the 40 hour school week and the successful completion of urinalysis and a passing grade.
This is an approach that addresses people that are milking the system. I have a niece that fits the description and a time limit on her benefits did make a difference. She now has a job. But this does not address those that truly need help. It is not that simple.
(7) Professional Athletes --Steroids - The FIRST time you check positive you're banned for life.
I would not limit it to steroids, although I would give them one chance to see if they can learn. First offense, a one year ban without pay, plus return of any bonus. Second offense, lifetime ban. I assume that by supporting this, you are willing to not watch in person or on TV any game that includes a person guilty of drug abuse. Of course, you'd also boycott any product that used a tainted athlete for advertising purposes.
(8) Crime - We will adopt the Turkish method, the first time you steal, you lose your right hand. There are no more life sentences. If convicted, you will be put to death by the same method you chose for your victim; gun, knife, strangulation, etc.
How about the constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishments? I peronally don't like to see guilty people walk free, but I like the checks and balances that keep people in power from slamming anyone they want into prison or worse. I've seen small town traffic court in action where you don't have the true checks and balances unless you are willing to really raise the stakes and a speeding ticket just wasn't worth it. I know Jim was not speeding because we were discussing the town we were going through as being a speed trap, I saw the car fly past us, turn onto a side road and cut his lights. I know how long it took the traffic cop to catch up on a winding hilly road where he could not have kept us in his sights. Were we allowed to mention any of this to the traffic cop as he wrote the ticket or the judge when we went to testify. No. It is called railroading and taught me the benefits of a checks and balances system. Yes, the system somewhat favors the criminal, but the criminal is innocent until proven guilty. It does help keep dictators out of office.
(9) One export will be allowed; Wheat, The world needs to eat. A bushel of wheat will be the exact price of a barrel of oil.
The hungry don't have oil.
(10) All foreign aid using American taxpayer money will immediately cease, and the saved money will pay off the national debt and ultimately lower taxes. When disasters occur around the world, we'll ask the American people if they want to donate to a disaster fund, and each citizen can make the decision whether it's a worthy cause.
Two separate topics. As I said in my other post, foreign aid is our way of buying something we want. Are we getting a good bargain? To me, that is the true question.
We already have the ability to donate to a disaster fund, but the help that really makes a difference is what happens in the first few days. We don't have time to wait for a national vote to decide whether to help. Katrina should have taught that lesson.
(11) The Pledge of Allegiance will be said every day at school and every day in Congress.
No problem. I also think every public school from elementary through high school should have a daily flag raising and flag lowering ceremony. The right to attend and participate should be a reward to certain classes for achievement, but the principal should have it set up so that this does rotate between classes.
(12) The National Anthem will be played at all appropriate ceremonies, sporting events, outings, etc.
No problem.
