Wow, Crazypetlady!!! You have quite the set-up! I am somewhat jealous!

Maybe not on the Designer Egg Chain, but what about the Show Quality egg chain? Or when I reopen the Cream Legbar (and other autosexing breeds) egg swap. I would be pretty put out if someone claimed my eggs then offered $10 Paypal when I sell my eggs for $8 each.
Paypal or ANYTHING else only works Atm on every chain if you offer what the chain is asking for AS WELL. So, you would have to offer 6+ SQ eggs or paypal. It has never been 'legal" ( in loss of a better term) to just offer other stuff on anything but wygs. IMO, the idea was to broaden the offer. IE I have one type of LF. If you don't want that, I'll stall the chain if I can only offer LF. I can see a lot of arguments against it, CJ, and I do understand. especially if people end up playing loose with the eggs. ( IE I put up my silkies as SQ to cheat the system and then offered pp. People would take my pp because the silkies are not sq, and I'd be a d i c k)

In kind trades on goods with a shelf life are always interesting and can be controversial. $ day old eggs that I cant put in the incubator are worth more in a trade then an omelet. But at the same time, I can be perceived as devaluing the trade if I do it so I don't just toss them. An egg is really worth a time/bird ratio that is hard to quantify. That's why they invented money in the first place, because it has an agreed value. I've been listening to a history of banking in Renaissance Italy lately and it has me thinking about value, I used the egg chains as an example at dinner last week even, heh.

Really I'm surprised pp is so wanted, as I pay that much in shipping to ship eggs to almost anyone, as I'm in California and you all are far away. And if it makes people feel cheap, I personal apologize. I always offer eggs and am happy ( delighted even) to send them to people. But I'm also blessed to be in a position where doing pp isn't a big deal either, and I personally would rather do the swap that gets snapped up the fastest. especially when a lot of people have been having trouble with feed bills and shipping and need to find a extra way to make their beloved pets pay the bills.

OK, that was long! Ill go back to drowning in quail eggs now!

I guess I could understand it for sq . I dont know I mean if you want a certain amount for your eggs then you should sale them on the egg saleing page or offer them on the 24 hour auction thread , I mean some stuff on peopls swap pages are worth more then 10 and some is less if we put up a swap can we really try to control how much the other persons offer is worth I think that would get really confuseing really fast. I thought the swaps were for fun?? I dont mean to be offensive at all please dont take it the wrong way.

Wow!

I have purebred Andalusians and I've had people choke over $5 each! That's ok though, I don't really want to sell eggs. I'd rather hatch out a bunch and then sell chicks.

On a specific chain (LF, Designer, Bantam, Cra2y, etc) they should list a specific item value for that particular swap. Most are $10-$15. I list values for EACH of my items on my page & offer people the opportunity to MATCH the value of my items to the value of the swap. I don't expect to get $50 worth of eggs & only swap $10 worth of items in exchange.

I am new at trying to understand all of This swapping stuff...... Can a person decline the swap if they just don't feel that there is any equality?

I sell eggs for eating, and birds (all local), but have been fallowing to see if I would like to join in, but I am just entirely confused at this point. If people agree that they wish to swap, is it anyone Else bees wax?

Shouldn't they just.

How are other affected by the swap if not engaged in the swap?

If I trade my Ameraucanas' fertilized eggs for soap, or knit hats, and I am pleased with the trade..... ??? Who else has anything to say? Are we not allowed to refuse a trade?

Just trying to understand here.... Supply and demand tells me that the one in need, or that is wanting decides worth. If I have plenty of eggs, but not something else. The "something else" may carry more value simply because I don't have it and want it!

I did not see an imoticon for crossed eyes of confusion....

I don't understand why someone would be upset about the PayPal, either. After all, in all of the swap chains, each person gets what they want BEFORE they offer up what they have. I have offered Swedish Flower Hen eggs on here before which are worth way more than $10 - just the shipping alone is more than that. But I got what I wanted, so if the person who claims them offers $10 Paypal and somebody takes it, why should I care. As far as I am concerned, the eggs I offer are at least worth WHAT I CLAIMED FIRST, otherwise I wouldn't have offered them. I personally will not claim a PayPal because between the cost of what I am offering and the cost of mailing, I would be in the hole. But if people want it and it keeps the chain moving, what's the harm?

I like the paypal option because it allows me to get the items I offer shipped out quicker. Cash is short around here, and I sometimes need that paypal just to buy a bag of chicken feed. I luck out on shipping sometimes when people claim higher value items that are smaller in si2e because it saves me a LOT on shipping compared to shipping a big heavy box of eggs clear across the country. I get what I want/need, the next person gets what they want/need (they wouldn't claim it if they didn't want it) & the chain keeps moving. Everyone is happy...except those few mal-contents who always have to spoil everything for everyone else because they aren't happy with their own lives.
