@DoubleATraining - I had two BSL babies hatch yesterday/this morning! So far both are all blue, no white spots on the head. Does this mean they are both boys?

I know it's not much, but do they use bar soap? I can send a little package of goat milk soaps for them.

Hope this isn't a dumb question- have you tried a band aid splint? My chick with spraddled leg from my last hatch was a whole new chick when I put on a band aid splint.
The chick was a silkie so feathered legs and feet don't do well with bandaids on them. It passed last night. It had some kind of eating issue along with the spraddle leg. It was both legs too. I'll have to start all over again now. I need a black silkie roo that is SQ.

Before I started using bandaids/vetwrap, I used to use the little blue rubber bands that come on bundles of green onions. I would tie a single overhand knot in each end of the rubber band, making two loops that I would slip over their feet and onto the shank. It fit loosely but would keep their feet from sliding out sideways. Not sure if this would work for silkies or other feather footed breeds but maybe you could try it?

Now, I use burlap for the floor in the brooder boxes. When they get soiled, I turn the burlap over and use the other side, then I just toss out the whole mess and put down new burlap. EASY!

I don't think I had a single chick this year that suffered from spraddle!

I use the rubbermaid non-slip shelf liner. It can be washed and reused many times!

I use these also, I have a dishpan that sits out on the back porch and I just let them soak in it for awhile before trying to wash them.I also do not use dishsoap on them I use vinegar then hang to dry.
