Does anybody have a meal worm starter kit they would want to side swap for?

Jim, I have meal worms. I can send you some. Pm me if you are interested.

I'm "chomping at the bit" here trying to wait my three months on some of these offers...

I've seen several Orp offers that I wanted, but with the thread stalling a few times, I didn't want to do a side swap and hold it up further by causing that person to end up pulling a part of their offer to send eggs to me...

Chiqita has black soldier fly kits she swaps with. Don't know exactly if thats what you are wanting but they apparently grow faster than the mealworms. I've been considering getting some, trying to find out if they can survive my winter here. She has been on this thread but if you can't find her, you can type the name in the search bar at the top and click on the "user" icon when it comes up.

Hope this helps.

IF they will survive the winter, they would be perfect for you Jim.
a/ They keep reg flies away in summer
b/ you would have 2 bins, one for chicken poop and one for all other poop/scraps/dead stuff. Feed the chicken ones the one that isn't from their poop, and the other birds the chicken poop ones. ( if you raise regular worms, you can then feed this stuff that has been de nitrified back to them, I have heard, but i have not tried it)

BSF are tiny things, but the grubs are huge. Do you have a place that doesn't freeze in the winter you could put bins? otherwise you'd have to get eggs every spring, I think. Mario knows the zones, let me harass him, he came home with a burning desire to vacuum. How did this man end up with me..... As for your wife, don't let her see INSIDE the bucket when its going, and you will be fine THAT is grose. The actual grubs that you get are black and cute and not slimy or weird. Also, dont make her get the goo you use to keep flies away, that also is grose. ( but very handy)

Otherwise, pic up live meal worms from pet smart, and put them in chicken feed with potatoes to lay in. Wolftracks made ours it worked great. That's a starter kit that works great and is not wallet unfilling. But don't leave it with your turkeys....

He says zone 7 or higher, or you need to keep them inside over winter. You can make a thingies to trap the adults and keep them reseeding your bucket. It does freeze here, but not constantly. So I imagine it will kill adults but not babies, maybe. the babies generate a fair bit of heat when they are eating their way to adulthood.

I was sent a box last week and haven't gotten it yet. I can't find the PM that has the DC# and I don't remember who sent it. Kinda like being up the creek without a paddle. lol It'll get here.........eventually. lol

Meanwhile I've got sizzle eggs that i'll have to start tossing out if I can' get them sold or swapped by tomorrow. I've got 9 eggs I think it is. I expected to get another 2 today but didn't. My sizzle paint hen and sizzle black hen laid most of them and the sizzle partridge a few. She went broody lazy wench. The roo is a paint silkie. So it's highly likely somebody will get paints. The last batch I didn't get moved I put in the bator and they are all developing and due to hatch on the 9th.

SOOO. Who wants some sizzle eggs for a swap. The only eggs I'll want are SQ silkie eggs and I'd prefer from a black only pen. Other than that i'm up for something I can use as a Christmas gift for a man or boys age 4 and 11. I can always use a cash pp like is done for swaps, gift certificate for TSC or Walmart, picture frames since school pics have been taken already.

Make me an offer. I hate to toss good eggs. Just PM me. I'd like to get these out tomorrow. After that I'll start tossing the older ones. Tomorrow is day 4 on the oldest eggs. They've been kept in a cool room in an egg flat air cell up and not handled.
