ok guys I need some help. Maybe you guys know something about this. Do you know anywhere that will help pay for Eldery Assited Living. My Grandmas thinks she is burdening us and everyone else and insists on living by herself but she can't live be herself she needs to much help. But she would do fine in assisted living. I want her to be happy but she can't afford to pay for assisted living on her own. So you guys know a place that will help her pay for it.

Your best bet is going to be to apply for Medicaid. However, in order to do so, grandma has to have less than $2,000 in assets (bank accounts, home, etc.). If you are able to get Medicaid, it will pay for her living expenses. However, if she has any assets over $2,000, she cannot qualify.

You might also want to contact your local Department of Human Services to see if they can refer you to someone.

Well it looks like I lost any help from my fathers side of the family. They all backed out when they told me they would help out and take her sometimes for a week or 2 and help take care of her. So now they are all leaving it on me. I knew there was a reason I stopped talking to my dad's side of the family.

I'm so sorry to hear about your problems. I would say to contact your Dept of Human Services and tell them about your problems. You also might check with the local assisted living facility itself. They deal with the forms etc. that need to be filed. Their insurance person should be a wealth of information. Good luck.

I have a couple of friends that work as an assisted living person. I imagine they don't do medical stuff, of course, but if you check, perhaps, with the assisted living facility you might be able to find someone who could come and help you. I don't know if you attend a local church or not but a lot of times, you can find someone there who would love to help.

I have no idea about fees etc., but there HAS to be a way to afford it. Good luck.
