WHAT YA GOT SWAP Chat Thread

Wondering if anyone would be interested in "project eggs"? I have cornish cross hens covered by leghorn roos. The ultimate laying breed crossed with the ulimate meat breed. It could possibly result in the ultimate dual purpose chickens.

I personally think it runs good as it is. I don't like the idea of adding a time limit at all. Not everyone can be online all the time. Why mess with a good thing. There has been no fighting on this thread. We just need to be patient as the thread isn't always going to move fast. So I guess I vote for leaving it the same or at least without a time limit.

have you hatched any? Leghorns are so lacking in muscle I would think it would just create "average" chickens......but genetics are surprising.

I have not. Yet, anyways. When you consider that there are decent dual purpose breeds out there that started with regular cornish, leghorn and some other breeds mixed in, I can only guess what would come from a cornish cross and a leghorn breeding. Cornish cross bred to other breeds typically results in fast growing meaty birds more closely resembling the cornish cross than the other breeds they've been bred to. When we move, I plan to seperate my flocks, since then they'll all be breeding age. I will have a leghorn over cornish cross hens, a leghorn over leghorns, and a cornish cross over cornish cross, so I'll be able to experiment and compare. :)

Going into lurking mode for the holidays............

I would love to join the swaps but I do not know how it works.

Kimmie

Welcome Kimmie! There are two threads involved with the swap. This is the Chat Thread, below is the link to the actual swapping thread. We chat here about all kinds of things, some related to the swap and some not, so that the swap thread is just for the swaps themselves. Go to the link below and read post #1. If you have any other questions, just ask here!

So I list all the stuff I have to swap and wait for someone that wants it? I list all the stuff I am hoping for? How do I make my swap page. I sew things using chicken fabric, purses, table runners, apron and whatever else I can come up with. Off to figure out how to make a swap page.

Kimmie

The swap is a "chain" not an "item for item" swap. Right now, coldupnorth is up on the swap, if you see something on her swap page (link listed in her signature) that you want, you say mine and put your offer in your post or post a link to your swap page. When someone sees your offer and decides they want something, they say mine and post their offer for anyone to accept. After claiming a swap, you pm the person you claimed from and let them know what item(s) you want and give them your address. Timelines for getting a swap out and other important rules are in Post #1 of the Swap thread. I hope this helps.
