I was reall worried my first hatch too... then I got 29 chicks out of 42 eggs set! Second yeiled 33 live from 42 set. Gettin better each time!

What is this food coloring trick?

nooooooooooo... don't makeeeee me do it........

I've placed drops of blue food coloring in my WFBS hens' vents. They are cooped with Minorca hens and a WFBS roo. The eggs are the same color and size. GableBabble is test hatching some eggs for me.

Luluann, I have no idea what hatch I'm on anymore and ya know what? I still worry. Every single time. So I can relate!!!

I was lucky -- my first two hatches I got to do with mutt eggs right from my own chickens. So I got to get the basics down before I started playing with shipped eggs. Seriously, ask around among your local community -- I'd be willing to bet someone's got fertile eggs you can practice on!
