I was having some pretty good luck with most of the eggs I got in the spring but the last batch of silkie eggs just didn't work. I had them in the incubator and candled them and saw movement. It was the 1 week candling so not much to say moved but did see something. I gave them to a broody hen and the day they where due to hatch she got off them and abandoned them completely. So I candled again and they where liquidy. I had a few still in the bator so I candled them and only 1 had a chick but it was dead. I"m guessing they got zapped too many times by the xray. I was really hoping for the buffs to hatch. I don't have any buff color in my silkie pens and was looking forward to starting another color. Hopefully I can catch some in the swap or do a side trade. (hint hint)

Hey em, did that cute fuzzy chick you hatched from my eggs ever grow up? I have not separated out my buff hens yet but I plan to put them with my red roo. I was surprised to find a buff silkie in the brooder, it is the first one that color that I have hatched. If it weren't so blamed hot out I would be out there fixing another pen.

I had similar problems with shipped eggs this year. Fully formed but no pips.

I am hoping my fall hatch won't have the same problems.

This has been my problem too. As a side note, the eggs from you went into lock down Sunday. Neither of the 2 EOrp developed. About 6 of the BBS Orp were developing. This is before you started using the signs, but you did ask the PO about the special shipping arrangements and they said only if you pay. These eggs did come in their own crate with signs so somebody did put the extra time in to them.

I can't wait for hatch day.

Could it be because of the heat as they were in transit?

Most of the eggs were shipped in March, April and May. The heat wasn't that bad then.
