Will the splits have a little white on the wings or something ? 13 more days
lol.png

Heres the issue. I was lead to believe a long time ago that my split silkies would have white on wing tips-and alot htched out that way BUT thats not true. Soran Silkies said thats not a way to be sure and I believe her. So if you hatch a pure lav-its pure--if its hatched black-or black with white wing tips you just dont know unless you breed them and see what pops up. The split ameraucanas..No Idea but again-I was told no you can't tell from that either. So its a guessing game until they are old enough to breed and see what pops up....sorry...lets just hope you hatch all lavs from everything and your problems are solved

Thanks.... as long as they hatch and are healthy, that is all that matters, of course 4 hens would be great

I think that when we receive eggs we should start posting how the box was marked. So far everyone that has received my eggs, none were broken. I dont mark my boxes. Of the eggs I received most of the boxes were good. I had one cracked egg and the box was marked fragile. There is a lot of eggs being shipped on this thread and it could give us some good information on the best ways to ship. There is always an eggception but we could start seeing a pattern.

I mark all my boxes unless the buyer asks me not to. It is pretty much irrelevant, as far as I can see because mostly the "handling" is by converor belts that can't read. But possibly your carrier might be more careful so it could help.

The boxes have to be loaded in between stops by hand. My new postal worker was afraid to handle a box that came to me marked 'fragile live embyos'.

The onlt thing I write and have great luck with is "fragile handle with care please" with starts all around it and a smile:)

Uncle tommy you may want to check the po today cause I shipped your eggs thurs. I didnt realize until I got home that I had forgot to put a conf # on it. I am very sorry. Please let me know when you get them.

I also wonder if it would be helpful to say where the boxes went from and to and watch for a pattern. It seems some of the transfer centers are really bad on them. I haven't had a cracked egg or a damaged box yet but I don't get diddly from my hatches so I wonder if they scramble, overheat, or xray. Any spreadsheet people?

Rcvd my HUGE chocolate mug and saucer from Happy Hens this week...this will be my soup, cereal and chili mug/bowl!

Received cookbooks from Stuck in the coop. She send twice as many as I was supposed to get.

THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH!

Have had a crazy busy week (even still have all 3 swaps!), but took some time to spend with birds and new puppy this morning. My chicks from BHep and WestKnollAmy are growing like weeds. They got moved to the shop this week and gained a snuggle buddy. I put my blind silkie rooster in there so I know he is out of the weather for the winter. So far, so good. They have been together for 3 days, I worry a bit about him accidentally pecking a little head while feeling his way around, but they seem to have learned to get out of his clumsy way.

This is the cutest chick from Beth. Really getting sizzly feathers. Pic is hard to see, but it is blue with a yellow fuzzy top knot. Can't wait to see what it turns into.

As I went to collect eggs, this is what I found

There are 3 more nest right beside them, but oh no! We must all use this one.
