Also one of the OEs I hatched from you started laying 2 days ago. A perfect little olive green egg. Set today's aside to stick in the incubator

I sent a message about digging daylilies in the heat. I will dig them tomorrow and send them to you.

Ok! I always worry about things getting lost in the mail. I thought you said you had sent them when I said the ground would be freezing here soon. But I must have erased all my messages from you, because I don't have any.

well holy moly crappers that is great news!!! Dont forget Im not sure if the ameraucana's will be 100% pure lavs or black/lav splits:) youll know when they are hatched-oooh you might ( slim chance get a pure black-because of the split roo and hen)

I just want to remind everyone that if you don't receive your items. First contact the person that you didn't get the item from to see why you have not received it. If they do not get back to you in a few days, then let me know and I will try to contact them. If I do not get any information from them then I will put them on the list and they will not be able to swap until they send the promised items.

COMMUNICATION is the key.

Eggs getting lost in the mail is a problem. I've replaced several shippings because of it. Although I want people to get what they paid for it puts a dent in the chickens savings for their feed. Too bad the po always finds a reason not to pay up when they screw up. I started adding insurance. The only way that works is if the vox doesn't arrive at all. It don't cover damaged eggs. I'd rather have to eat the small fee for insurance if it will make sure the package gets to it's destination on time.

I'm surprised Bhep has development out of every surviving egg. I'm thinking I lined that box with foil. Correct me if i'm wrong Bhep. It would be nice to know. It may just save the eggs from getting zapped. I know I don't mind doing extra if it's gonna help others get a better hatch rate. I know my girls eggs are fertile. I've hatched many lately and they've all been fertile. I've only tossed out 1 and it was a blood ring. And so far all of the chicks that hatched have survived. There are usually at least one that dies before a week is up but so far so good. I even had 2 hatch today from under a broody. She had 3 eggs but one got busted a few days ago. I'm guessing from a scuffle with another hen wanting to use the nest box. There was a dead chick inside. I have 3 more due that are under a couple more broody's and 40+ in the bator due the 23rd.
DH really needs to get a pen built or i'm gonna have to use cages till he does. And it's cold here now.

Aspen, the marks on my Serama eggs are just so I know who laid them when I gather eggs and the date laid. Initials of names or pen, prob won't mean anything to you.

Heres the issue. I was lead to believe a long time ago that my split silkies would have white on wing tips-and alot htched out that way BUT thats not true. Soran Silkies said thats not a way to be sure and I believe her. So if you hatch a pure lav-its pure--if its hatched black-or black with white wing tips you just dont know unless you breed them and see what pops up. The split ameraucanas..No Idea but again-I was told no you can't tell from that either. So its a guessing game until they are old enough to breed and see what pops up....sorry...lets just hope you hatch all lavs from everything and your problems are solved
