"On the bright side, I have 1 Araucana out so far from Debi"
That's it??

Thanks for the lice/mites tips, everyone! I have a parmesan cheese shaker that I might try using. I also read the pantyhose trick... might try that too. Yesterday I probably looking like a mad woman, scooping up chickens and covering them in DE. I was DE from head to foot... good thing it's all natural!

The whole idea just grosses me out. I'm not a bug lover! So far I've only seen them on my reds for some reason.

Hopefully I'll get them in time before they get bad!

I completely clean all my stalls out a couple times a month then I add seven dust on the ground and let in sit for a few minutes before adding the bedding. Then i go around the whole stall with bleach water and spray all the wood and nesting boxes with it then add my bedding. I haven't noticed any mites since I have done this method.

I am using hay for the winter. During the summer I use saw dust. The hay keeps them a little warmer.

I plan on getting some Sevin tomorrow. All I have right now is DE. Can I get poultry spray at TSC?

ETA: My Iowas from MrHeinz go into lockdown tomorrow! All three that made it are still looking good.

for a good hatch. I haven't had much luck lately.

Here's to breaking the bad luck streak!

PS... I feel kind of guilty right now. I'm inside in the warm with my kids while DH is outside working on a new run for the chickens. Bless his soul. He is about one step away from hating chickens, and yet he's putting lots of time into the run... making it safe and pretty. How in the world did 4 pullets turn into 45? Lol!

Good luck on your hatch. If hubby doesn't love the chickens, he loves you (and aren't the chickens part of you so he loves them in a round about way. )
