MrHeinz: Thank you! Received the eggs today, all made it safely! No thanks to the postal worker who left the box on the other side of the yard, nearly under the lillies which are 5-6 ft tall!

mUST HAVE been a substitute because our normal lady puts things right on the porch or at least by the gate!

No other pips yet on the remaining 3 eggs. Lone chickie!

My daughter is sad and dealing with the loss of her beloved pet in her own way.
she says she doesn't want another right now.
I told her in the spring when we get the tax return she might be ready for another one.

I can't afford one right now cause they cost $200-$300 plus shipping to get one from a licensed breeder.

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and the cat scan people told me it would be read today and the dr will have results tomorrow so I should no more then.

I wrapped up 3 of them and put them in the freezer before anybody had a chance to get at them.

Went to feed the chickens this afternoon and found my youngest DDs favorite chicken dead. She/He was a silkie that we hatched from eggs from this swap in August. We haven't had Silkies before and it was one of two that hatched for us. I saw her last night when I went into the coop to check on their light - "Georgina" was walking around acting fine - she always came up to me so I usually pick her up and talk to her a little. She didn't seem sick or anything. No signs of predadation either. My daughter is so sad and that makes me really sad. She wanted this one for 4H, guess I'll have to try again in the spring.

So sorry about the silkie. They don't do well with cold temps, maybe you need a heat lamp.
