Anyone ever have a chicken change feather color after moulting? I have an EE hen that has always been a "dirty" white but she has been moulting the last month and most of her new feathers are coming in a tan color so her appearance has changed quite a bit. I have to do a double take every time I see her because I keep thinking - now where did that chicken come from?

I'm so eggcited I had to share. This is the first egg I have gotten from any of my chicks I started with this year. Now I have 1 less free loader but it means I need to get my Welsummer pen done.

I am thinking my lone Welsummer pullet should start laying soon. Of course, I don't have a rooster for her. One of my Polish pullets laid her first egg today as well. Good thing, lots of folks like polish.

Well my 2 leghorn have started laying but they don't count.... they are for eating. *sigh*
