Michelle, You mentioned your showgirls just started laying...how old are they? My whites were born last spring (breeder didn't have exact date, just spring

) and they show zero signs of being ready to lay or mate. I'm getting pretty darn impatient waiting on them to grow up!

Has anyone ever had a hen that the rooster just doesn't like? My roo is mean to one of the SLW, he runs her off from any treats. I studied her real close yesterday, wondering if I had just made a mistake and she is a he...but there is nothing in her appearance to indicate that other than her comb and wattle are slightly larger than my other SLW

I'm not very fond of the SLW, and plan to sell them, but find it odd he singles her out.

oops, forgot to say - The polish are great! I'm sure hubby will be thrilled with them and what a great bargain you got!

on the other hand........ my life has been pretty crappy the past month or so.
Besides me being sick and in pain.
One of our friends in church died - just dropped dead right after going home from a church function. then my daughters hedgehog died, then i found out that my aunt died.
and my boss decided to cut my hrs at work to 35 a week then this week because of the holiday he is cutting everyone's hours even more i will get 29. Don't have a clue about christmas. boss sent a memo out today to our companies and reps asking things like "if you would fire one of the girls in the office who would it be" which person would you least like to work with etc. I dont think i have anything to worry about really but he labeled the memo "judgement day". so maybe he will fire me before christmas or just wont give me a bonus.
my life pretty much sucks lately.

BUT on the other hand. All of you on here are very supporting and I enjoy looking at what you have to say or offer.

My trades that I will be doing will be for christmas presents for the family because my boss is words I can't say in this forum.

And I didn't have money for a big turkey or a full dinner. and we got blessed today. we found out that someone at my daughters school put her name in for a thanksgiving box. so we will be getting a turkey and some of the t-day items from the school- that was nice. And then the local food shelf called today and asked my husband to come down there to pick up something that they had for us. A random person donated a turkey and the fixings to us! so a double blessing.
and the place that i got my car from said they can refinance it to lower my monthly car payment so that will help i will have to pay a few months longer but with the cuts at work that will mean a lot.

I can't believe your boss can be so tacky and unprofessional. I have been on the financial side of business for the last 30 years and have seen plenty of cut backs and layoffs and most necessary for the businesses to continue operating, however there is certainly a personal and gentle way to help employees understand why cuts are being made. Your boss must not value his employees much to put out a tacky judgement day memo.

I hope things will get better for your health and your families finances.

I know teaching in a small school district, or any for that matter, we are on pins and needles from Dec 1 until April 15. After that date pink slips cannot be handed out for reductions. I am not as nervous anymore since I have the second highest seniority in the secondary science department after 11 years. I still am nervous though.

I've cut way back on swaps because of what the farm has done to my accounts. I only swap with the money I make from egg sales to pay for shipping.

Caroline, Sorry about your problems at work. Bosses suck. I have been trying to gather EE eggs to send you, but the girls keep getting them messy with this rain. Hopefully it will dry up so I can send you some clean ones oh, and I got the molds, thanks, Deb
