I know whats the deal with our weather. I loved the few warm days we had.

My girls are on strike 1-3 eggs a day.

right? I was out all morning cleaning pens out! sliding all over the melting ice to get to the compost pile!

at least the birds were happy!

Roosterlane.. No heat lamps until it gets down to -20 I choose birds that can handle the winters well...I do lose some to the cold weather and it breaks my heart when it happens but the ones who survive to Spring..are the champs..those are the bloodlines I choose to keep and breed! I only lose a few a year to what I assume is cold weather-totally healthy one day -gone on the floor the next

No signs of anything obvious either...We use the heated water tins to keep their water defrosted and when it does get -20, -30,-40 those days only last for a few then back to 0 or higher. I make brown rice stews for them. I crock pot big meals for them and bring them down nice and warm at night or first thing in mornings.. Rice, carrots, peas, spinach, and ground up left over meat for protein...

That's sweet of you but not necessary. They're expensive to ship and I know silkie eggs are a little less durable than others. One of the mystery eggs was a dudd. The remaining eggs have developed but the air cells are freakishly large and misplaced so I don't have my hopes up. The post office really worked them over! She has two of her own under her so she wont be chickless.

:barnieHmmm, I didn't think of that. I could make them warm rice in the morning! You be safe out there. I feel so bad for whining when it get's down to 30 degrees. From now on I am gonna just count my blessings. We have family in WI. Visited a few times last year in Dec and Feb. EEK! How freezing and soooo much snow. It look awesome from inside the house but driving in it was bad on my nerves. I guess it's something you get used to. Yesterday I cleaned out the pens, got so warm had to put on a t-shirt.

Again be safe and will have my fingers crossed for your chickens.

Me either. I keep trying but the pics wont show up. I've got alot of feed bags I plan to swap too.

First you need to upload some pictures to BYC, hopefully you have already done that. If not let me know and I will guide you through that too.
Go to your my page, if you have a swap page, click to open that page. At the top of the page click on 'click here to edit' . You will see your edit page. At the top of the page click on 'my uploaded images'. You should now have 2 open BYC pages. 1 is your page you are making, the other should that have automatically opened when you clicked on it is your uploaded images page. Click on the picture you want to use DO NOT CLICK ON THE URL click on the picture. Your thumbnail should now be a larger picture. Right click on that picture and hit copy. Go to your page you are editing and right click where you want the picture to be and hit paste. Do not use the image code in your page it will not work. Just copy the picture you want from your uploaded images and paste it where you want it to be on your swap page you are making. VOILA you should now have your pictures where you want.
