Awww...... He grew up to be such a handsome boy. I miss my peacocks so bad. The guy that was here yesterday has the same problem that they can't thrive in our weather.

OKAY, I know this a swap chat thread BUT "SOME PRAY FOR ME!"

Today I move my 29 year old step son out of my house. Love him but you have to go and the guys from Lowes come to rip out all my windows and replace them. Which means all window treatment and stuff have to be removed and they stuff has to go somewhere. Since my son moved in a year ago, I lost the spare bedroom and three closets, I used as storage.
Now I am raising my granddaughter for 5 more months and I have baby chickens in the 2nd bathroom and baby chicks in a metal brooder in the dining room and 2 large containers of meal worms in the living room. For what ever reason I woke up this morning thinking. This is MY HOUSE. It getting crazy in here. I like it spotless but yet these are my chickens. My son thinks I need to move the chicken out, but they are a few days old to three weeks. I have a do have a 3 brdrm / 3 bath house so it's not too crazy around here, but I need the space.

Nope! He is out of here (in the most loving, Strong way I can put it.) And I am gaining my spare room back. I am retired, I pay they mortgage, I do all the cleaning and if I want chickens, Momma gets chickens.
So needless to say when he gets up and goes to work today, I will move everything in my new spare room and he will understand when he gets home, I mean it. I'll give him 15 more minutes to wake up so I can give him the news. This is me doing my chicken dance.

and this is for my baby chicks! Am I horrible and going to burn in H@))? The window guys will be here at 10 am so I may not be on here for a little bit.

In Arkansas it should be okay to put the chicks outside in a good coop by now. Put a heat lamp in there and they will do fine!

I will pray for you I am struggling with my daughter. she will be 15 in June. She wants to spend every weekend at her friends. I told her today that she can go over there and stay one night this weekend either tonight or tomorrow night. I get the WHY and THATS NOT FAIR. my friend used to come over here and stay the whole weekend... i'm like thats different. -- her friend's home was stressful at the time- father drinking and had a new girlfriend - now has 2 babies by her- and my daughters friend and the girl friend always fought. so it was better and safer here. now my daughter's friend lives at the grandmothers- grandfather is at a nursing home- and the grandmother cares for my daughters friends 2 mentally disabled uncles. So I dont want my daughter to put the strain on that poor grandma..... sigh. what should i have done???


any ways.......... i was looking in the various egg chains and see a crazy one, a lf one, a designer one. but is there no Bantam one???? i would love a bantam only one.... what do you guys think???????

That was me..... I will not ship eggs on weekends anymore, as a matter of fact, I have just recently stopped writing "Hatching Eggs" on the box. I just write "Fragile" & "Please handle with care, Thank You" Apparently, Fed Ex does the air freight for the PO.
If they are going to change the rules or start enforcing the rules, then they need to post that information somewhere.
There will always be one complaint or another... I am just thankful that shipping eggs or chicks is still aloud, I pray that the PO or Fed Ex don't decide to cut that service out altogether.

When I went thru the ordeal a few weeks ago with the missing chickens the Fed Ex guy made a comment, "that we may not have to worry about it too much longer" with the way USPS is going and their financial troubles.

I learned allot about how the system does and does not work when it comes to shipping birds.

I also learned that yes Fed ex is contracted to do all of the PO bird shipments and that once a box of birds leaves USPS's hands and goes into Fed Ex's hands there is not paper trail, no way to track them to make sure where they are in route, USPS just relies on Fed Ex to get them to their next stop. BAD SYSTEM!!!

With that being said, this year I will start to research how to get either Fed Ex or UPS to ship birds/eggs/chicks without having to use USPS. Fed Ex already does it so why can't they offer the service? There are all sorts of birds that get shipped, not just poultry, it's a much bigger business than most realize. So would UPS want in on that new revenue??? I have a relative very high up with UPS and will be making contact and pitching the idea.

When I have some information or something to report in regards to the matter I will be sure this is the first place I tell.

ps- don't forget Fed Ex & UPS have already upped their pricing & USPS goes up on Jan. 22nd.

I hear you, sister! I have quail and chicks in the dining room, and had to tote back up the NYD hatch chickies again because even in FL it's too cold for them at night and I already lost one, and it looks like I am going to lose another. Plus, I have 16 set to hatch tomorrow!
Sure could use that VEGAN daughter's room.. .Ha ha ha just kidding...


ps.... yeah, it's my house, too. and if I ain't happy NO ONE in my house is happy. My husband not only supports, but encourages my Chicken Addiction. Last night he found out that one of his new clients raises heritage breeds in Spring Hill (40 minutes away) and SHE HAS WHITE FACED BLACK SPANISH LARGE FOWL!!!

And, who's birthday is in March... MINE! (and Beth's!) new chickies for me.. new chickies for me...

Even though I don't do bantams, I think it would be a successful thread/chain, DO IT!
You did the right thing for your daughter. We don't like to say NO, but it is for their own safety and good, and they'll appreciate it someday. Okay, maybe they won't appreciate it, but they will be better for it.

I'm trying to get VEGAN daughter to go through our fabrics so that I can post them on my swap page.... they're mostly hers. My sewing is limited to repairs and pillowcases.
