i recieved my ink today from pauletta....

it was in a priority mail box- marked FRAGILE on each side--- MY CARRIER - shoved the box and crammed it in to my mail box. it was 2/3 of the way sticking out and it took 10 min for me to safely pry it out of my mailbox.

I was mad of the condition my own carrier did to the box. BUT I was greatful that it was ink and not EGGS.

now i am affraid to get hatching eggs.... What the Heck?

so frustrated.....


SO to all the peeps i owe things too- i am back to work and working crazy hrs and on top of that had Physical therapy 3xs a week plus a couple of DR appointments thrown inthere.

I plan to get them packaged up tomorrow after work and all in the mail on monday.

- Physical therapy didn't help so i wont have that next week, gyn today said i need an ultrasound to see if my pain isn't from the female region- thats not until the end of this month.
-grr... wish they would figure out what is wrong with me so they can fix it.

Polish roo is mad at me for Wednesday I guess. Normally I cover his run with a waterproof tarp when it rains, because they do not go in the coop at night by themselves or when it rains. So yes, every night, I go inside and pick them up say good night and put them in the coop 2 steps where they perch. Good gravy! But they have come to expect this. So I was picking my granddaughter up from school early (parent teacher conference day) and it started POURING. Made it home in 8 minutes flat and they OF COURSE did not walk in to the coop and since it was light out they would not let me pick them up. I tried but he was upset by the down pour of ran and he jumped at me and I busted my nose on a 2x4........(breath....count to ten.....don't kill the chicken.....) So I covered the run and left them.

Next morning he I went to put food inside the feeder and he came at me to chest bump me. I pushed him gently with the feed scoop in mid flight. He fell backwards, took a breath and did it again. This time I push slightly harder and he got to his feet, shook his head and decided maybe I could be the boss today. Good choice. When I put him to bed last night, he was fine but went inside then stuck his head out to watch me leave. I did the 2 finger to the eyes motion and said '"I'm watching you." I think he stuck his tongue out at me. I yelled as I was walking away, I'm having fried chicken for supper tomorrow and your invited." Well made me fell better......

Today I went to get another egg from the polish coop and the rooster ran inside the coop and pecked my hand as I reached inside. Scared me soooo bad I smashed the egg pulling my hand out. Crazy rooster. What was he thinking? Did he think I was a snake? Guess I will have to feed them treats before egg collecting. Glad to know he protects his girls and eggs well. But my poor finger!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went back out there today to make nice... Threw some meal worms in there and lettuce. Maybe he wants a bigger run. Hmmm more room to bounce around, goofy polish. Maybe I should trim his hair so he can see. ....... All I can say is it's a good thing he so pretty and normally loveable.......cause my nose and finger are still sore. Sorry....had to vent.

Sorry.............that is too funny. Stuck his tongue at you ????

What in the world!! That's crazy. John Farmer said the mail man crushed his box too. I bought the extra large mail bow and they still try thier best to cram it in there. But my normal PO carrier toots the hormn and I come out and get the boxes. Sending you a PM......

I guessing he stuck his tongue out. I'm sure he would if he could..... Would love to read their minds sometimes. Those polish are so different than other chickens. I have decided to make them a bigger run. heck they have a 250.00 coop. The run is 3 ft by 7 foot. That should be enough for 2 chickens. Going to go out by nautical twilight and put them to bed.

Frank.... I just used your formula to calculate and my egg lost 1.842 g on day 5.

I am going to hatch an EMU.

I just broke open my egg #1 and flushed it down the toilet. It was loosing weight each week and was rotten to the core. Dam it STUNK!

Someone had asked (Pauletta, was it you?) for some ideas of some things people are looking for. I thought of a few things I need or want.

a popcorn popper
American girl doll things, books, clothes, paper dolls-Josefina in particular, but anything would do.
children's shoes-girls or boys, sizes vary
children's clothes-especially dressy outfits for boys-newborn to size 5, mainly
puzzles for children (animals, etc.-not popular characters)
gift cards
bubble wrap!!!
egg coddlers
pretty teacups

an electric meat or cheese slicer-this would probably be something for a side swap, too expensive otherwise!

I guess I have the nicest mail carriers.... They won't even leave a package out in the rain, either cover it with a plastic bag or honk for someone to come out or leave a pick up ticket. They have called me when I had chicks or eggs come to the PO... Everytime I pick up eggs, they want to know what kind it is this time... I have a sign for hatching eggs by the gate that says "Put packages next to the stone duck" LOL And they put the packages by the stone duck in the shade! If its too hot, they won't leave the package most times...
