I came home today after getting the MIL in the nursing home to find my big black orp dead in his house. He was everybody's buddy here. The only thing I can figure is he may have either choked on his feed or got his head stuck between the feeder and ladder. But it was easy to pull him out so I really dont' think he got stuck. Poor guy. We will miss him. Now I gotta go make him a grave.

Well, hopefully you will have a much better day today when your new chickens arrive today.

So sorry you lost one of your babies, it stinks when you loose one but worse when they are full grown.

When I told the neighbors they where even at a loss. Everybody here loved Blu. My day started out great today. My silkies from reesepoultry came in early then off to the doc appt. I didn't get home till this afternoon. Which means 2 days behind on my chores. I'll get caught up. My silkies have slowed down on laying agian. They lay real good in the cooler months. I had 3 broodies sitting on 7 or 8 ameracauna eggs (LF) and 2 of them decided they didn't want to sit anymore and left all those large eggs up to their mother to sit on. She is managing them all very well though. She would rather be broody than lay eggs anyway. If I had an empty cage i'd just put her and the eggs in it and just let her hatch and raise them. I still may. I'm going to a swap in Jackson saturday to sell some adults which will free up some cages. I"ve been replacing my silkie flock with better quality ones. I have some eggs and chicks to sell too. I would gladely sell and ship them to somebody if they're interested though. I'm selling my buddy MJ. I hate to see him go but it's time. He's the guy that has helped produce the laced grey sizzles and the smooth barred sizzles I have. Time to bring in new blood to the flock. I may put a white silkie in the sizzle pen and sell Oddball too. He's a handsome fellow too. He's a smooth sizzle and colorful one at that.

OK i am officially a hatch a holic though hubby hasnt caught on yet...

I dont watch a lot of tv... mostly chick- a - vision



hubby walks by the incubator - notices that i have 4 trays of eggs.... goes thats a lot of eggs in there (holds 48 on a tray)
and i go... well most of those eggs are shipped eggs and you know prob only half will hatch... and he's like oh ok....

he loves the little mess makers.









and the older chicks are learning to fly

Cute babies! I had thought about getting an incubator similar to that one in looks. Then Hubbie struck up a deal for non hatchery stock Siapans.... lol We get them some time in April. How do you like yours?

you are getting some japs and some ees and some maran eggs i have those in the incubator and they are fertile just dont know if they are pure maran or if they will end up oe's those are due to hatch in 1 week.

I am up on the swap page. Offered a GFM too. SOrry I have been running so slow these days. Granddaughter was out all week for spring break and of course we have had rain storms but thankfully no tornados all week. Today should be nice enough to put more dirt in runs for the chickens. Poor things.
