Okay, went to pick up my order of chicks this morning and all 47 of them were DOA. I'm trying to figure out how I can just pick them up at the sort facilities instead of them being in a truck for 3 hours in the cold weather between the sort facilities and then also being put on a cold truck to be brought out to our post office. I'm a little frustrated. My daughter wants Japanese Bantams to show for 4H (Bantam class). I think we will have some good breeds for her LF showing (thanks to a few WYGS swappers

). Anyone know a good source of these? Eggs even? We would like to get them early enough that they actually are ready as a breeding group for the fair in August. Thanks so much for listening to me vent......
Oh, so sorry about your chicks!!! Feel bad for you and the chicks

That sounds so aweful! I hope they can save her nail. How old is she? Boy when is rains it poors.

She's 13. The nail bed beneath the nail was ripped, so they took the nail completely off, stitched up the nail bed, then tacked the nail back on to protect the finger as a new nail grows back in. Her finger is in a HUGE bandage. She's struggling at school because he can't write yet. She's missing archery tournaments too... The pain is finally starting to get a bit better. She's been a real trooper through this while thing. I guess it could have been worse.

My toddler slammed her finger in a drawer about 2 weeks ago. It got so big and black and blue and had a cut all the way around it. Luckily, and suprisingly, she didn't need stitches. Every time she washed her hands she would cry from the pain.
Finger injuries are no fun, I'm sorry! It will heal and she will have a cool scar to show off though

Poor thing.

That makes me cringe.

If I could share a finger horror story - our 16 month old was helping push my mother's buggie through the grocery store and her finger got caught between the wheel and the metal cover on top of the wheel. Ouch. It tore the skin off of her finger.

On another note, I'm looking to do a few side swaps for goat's milk soaps (fresh milk on the way - yay!) for some of the following from NPIP flocks:
Olive Eggers
Easter Eggers
White Egg Layers (Prefer Pure)
Dark Egg Layers (Prefer Pure)
