Wow! I would so go back later to see if the reel and phone was still there. I was just six or seven when we had a close call with a brown bear while hiking in the Smoky Mountains in East TN. He was protecting his berry bush. Scared the crap out of my mom. She had to take a leak while on the trail and Dad took us kids (me and my 2 brothers) down the trail a bit so she had privacy. All of a sudden she came scooting down around the bend of the trail looking over her shoulder white as a ghost. Apparently the bear thought she was marking out the berry bush for herself but he was content to stay with his bush.

Woah to both of those stories :hmm

Well, my dad is taking the boat out this weekend so I guess I will be getting anything we catch smoked by our friend (who knows what he is doing) because if Im giving it away, I want it to be good stuff. And apparently Im not good at smoking fish yet. That stuff I made SUCKED. hahaha it's a work in progress. LOL.

OMG who sent me quail again!!! ??? I totally forgot I had eggs in the bator and I heard this funky squaky noise coming from bator...thought my turner was broke...looked in and 3/3 hatched!!! OMG soooo cute...now what the heck am I going to do with them? Haha can they take COLD weather??
I smashed baby crumbles for them and whoever sent them to me I remember saying use a pop bottle top for water...so I did...when and how can I sex them and what do I do??!!!

You MUST be joking. You forgot they were there and then found them hatched??? But be the least stressful hatch ever. HAHAHA

I used a top to a plastic container set that was for condiments to hold my fermented feed for my quail since it was much easier to wet and ferment the starter than try to grind it up fine enough. They loved it including the buttons and had no difficulty eating it. I did sprinkle a little dry around on the paper towels I put in the bottom of the brooder for a few days just to give them something to peck at and get them going. However, warning if you haven't had quail, be very careful about opening the brooder especially if your access is on top. Those suckers are fast and can fly straight up, especially the buttons. I chased them around my living room several times since it was cold and those were brooded inside. Fat 50 year old woman chasing small birds around the living room and trying to keep them from under the furniture and simultaneously keeping the cats from chasing said birds was extremely amusing to my kids and grandson. Heck it amuses me picturing it in my mind.

I think I may be done hatching eggs. After this last batch I am to be getting. I don't really have the desire to hatch them anymore. Might be because I have eggs I do not want. Plus since we moved I do not have a good set up. My 2 brooders are scattered in the back yard. Before I had my incubator in the spare room and my brooder beside it. Well see what happens.

What eggs did you get that you didn't want?
Sometimes it is good to take a break as well.

They came from dbf uncle... so I do not know what they are. I just can't seem to remember to turn them. Things may change.
