WHAT YA GOT SWAP Chat Thread

So, I thought I'd ask here if anyone is up for a side swap! I'm trying to accomplish something semi-complicated, haha. I'm trying to hatch a single batch of duck eggs on a specific schedule (in between my planned chicken hatches this year) so I need to set my batch of duck eggs somewhere around the weekend of Feb 22-23. But here's the thing ... I don't have any ducks right now to produce the eggs. Heh! I claimed some eggs over in the waterfowl swap thread, and dndjohnson has ever so kindly agreed to send them to me that week of Feb 17th. But that's only 4 eggs, I can fit more in the duck batch and I really want to limit the duckies to this one hatch this year. Sooooo ... does anyone have fertile duck eggs that would be ready to ship the week of Feb 17th, AND be interested in a swap? I can offer fertile LF Dominique eggs right away, and a whole bunch of garden type stuff (dried hot peppers, sun dried tomatoes, pickles, hot sauce, tomato seeds in dozens of varieties, hot pepper seeds in dozens of varieties, other garden seeds too, I have a seed list I can send if you want to go that way) in trade. My call ducks just started laying this week. I'm putting the eggs in the bator this weekend, so if they are fertile ill be putting them up for swap.

I would be happy to give you some eggs but they would not be purebred. My drake is a khaki and my girls are a crested blue Swedish and a khaki/blue Swede cross.

Our first duck was a sweedish mallard cross. He was very polite and raised with chickens. However he also migratrd. He comes by once in a while to say hi.

I don't mind cross breeds!

Give me a few days to test fertility and I could probably set you up with 6-8 cross breed eggs if you want them. I will pm you.

I read through the rules but still have a few questions...
How do I sign up for the wyg-swap, just claim an offer and put up my own offer?
Is there a set time frame that a swap needs to be claimed before it rolls back to previous offer/ do I need to wait till the offer after mine is claimed before sending my own package?
Is there a member page to keep track of swaps and good standing? (tried to look but didn't see one)

Excited and eager to try the swaps!

How do I sign up for the wyg-swap, just claim an offer and put up my own offer?   Yes, just jump in. You must be a member of BYC for 3 months before you can swap (if you have been here for 3 months, you can join in at any time).

Is there a set time frame that a swap needs to be claimed before it rolls back to previous offer/ do I need to wait till the offer after mine is claimed before sending my own package? As I understand it, for your 1st three swaps, you have to send yours out with tracking. AND you have to send it out 1st (the person that is supposed to be sending you something should 'hold' their stuff until they get a PM from you that includes a tracking # showing that you sent out your 'offer' to whoever claimed yours. Basically, as a new person, you should not get what you claimed before you send out what you offer. If your offer doesn't get claimed in a reasonable amount of time, you can add more to the offer to make it more attractive. Sometimes the thread stalls (people get busy), so don't get discouraged if your offer doesn't get taken right away.

Is there a member page to keep track of swaps and good standing? (tried to look but didn't see one) I haven't seen one, but maybe someone else knows. Some members include individual swap info on their swap pages (the links to their swap pages are listed on one of their posts or on their profile). If so, you can see what swaps are outstanding and with whom, so you know who to avoid, should they pop up in a swap. Not everyone has a 'swap page' though. If you see a link to one pop up, click on it and see if they have their outstanding or current swaps listed so you can see what I'm talking about.
