I'm stunned. Packages made it from Iowa to Ga, Or, and Tn in two days. Maybe somebody read the part "Time Sensitive" on the boxes. They didn't get to Oh or NY in two days, though. It looks like Emmalynn's box did get banged up though.

Mine was a little banged up but nothing horrible. The plants made it safe and sound and I can't wait to send you photos of them flourishing!!!!

Priority takes 5 to 10 days, usually on the long side. So far no banged up boxes received but everyone I drop off is immediately chucked across the room into the bin. I guess throwing to save those few steps keeps us from another postage increase. I asked last time and the guy said I could do eggs overnight or express but I don't know that he knew what he was talking about.

missred- most show birds in my experience are never affordable in the sense how much you pay at one time. You would eventually pay the same if not more hatching, raising, culling, repeat, repeat.. before you get a showbird. Lots of breeders would possibly discount the price for a junior ABA member or 4Her. I always do.
What breed are you looking for? I would suggest something small for a 5 year old like a bantam cochin, OEGB, or of course you could always get an evil silkie.

Best of luck on your search. I always really enjoy that part and usually come home with birds I don't "need" (per my husband).

They are a great all purpose bantam and a really nice size and breed for showing.

I brought a couple out last year and will be showing even more this year in several colors. Here are just a few of mine.

Showing this girl this fall, she is now 8-1/2 months old

These are my older blacks (parent stock) but may bring the old man out to a show or two

I will hopefully be getting a pair of whites to show as well.

Can you tell I love my bantam orps.

PS- Serama's are also an awesome little bird to show and very docile.

This little cockerel will be making his first show appearance as well. They are a bit smaller than an oegb.

Hen Thymes makes a good point and orps tend to have a great docile personality. I could just see a 5 year old dragging one around under her arm.

I will be gone fro the better part of the week. So the 2 people that I owe things to I am sorry but I won't be able to get them shipped until next week. This is our last chance to take the kids somewhere before they start back to school.

I hope you understand.

We are going on a long over due mini vacation. Which we haven't been able to due in 2 yrs. Hubby asked me what I wanted for my Birthday (aug. 1st) I told him to just get out of the house and take the kids camping. So we will be gone this whole week.

That's never happened. I have probably only 1 dozen eggs in it.
