Debi, Sorry, I did not get the syrups in the mail today. Saturday night, DH dropped the lid to the cast iron dutch oven on his toe while I was out. When I got home, he had gone from the macho "I don't need to go to the hospital" to "Let's ask your mom when she gets home" to "I better go to the hospital, now" We went to the wrong hospital first...two hospitals merged, leaving only one ER, naturally at the other hospital. Spent hours there getting his toe sewn up. The bone had been exposed, so there was a risk of infection. But good news was coming home to incubator full of quail. I stayed up all night Sunday baking bread and watching quail hatch, trying to keep them from wandering away from the heat in the brooder and freezing to death. Today, had to get DH to DR, DH#! to work, DS#2 to diferent DR, and pick up DS#3 from soccer practice...all at least 20 miles from home all in different directions, all at almost the same time. Fortunately, macho kicked back in, DH drove himself to DR and DS#1 to work...no bone infection, just no going to work (truck driver) until at least Thursday. Fun Fun Fun

Yes..Thanks!

On a sad note, looks like 2 died during the night. Although one of the two is still breathing and I am trying to keep it alive, I am doubtful. Took one egg out of the incubator this morning, it was cracked, and not developed at all. I think I cracked it when I was removing the bars that keep the eggs still. I thought I heard, or felt, one crack at the time, but could not identify it then. Good to know that I did not kill one since it did was not developed at all.

No more pipping this morning, so 18 little ones in brooder. A great hatch IMHO.

Sometimes there will be late hatches. Not sure when they were supposed to hatch but I always leave mine for 4 days after they were due and I sometimes have late hatchers. Glad you got a good amount.

I locked down the eggs, along with some others under 3 new broody mamas. So they each got some eggs. Well..... they have stolen each others eggs and chicks.

I know that 1 is a light color...egged marked Tawny. 1 is chickmonk & 1 is black & white. That's all I was aloud to see.

The other eggs are cuckoo marans, so no mix up there.
