Wow, those pheasants are amazing! Do you need a permit to keep pheasants?

Happy Independence Day everyone!
I think each state/area is different. In Minnesota you do need a permit through the DNR, since they are wild game. I'm not sure about the ornamental varieties. Can't house pheasant and chickens too near each other, because pheasant can't handle many of the diseases that chickens carry.

Happy Independence Day to everyone also!

Well got woke up this morning to a coyote in my yard at 5am. When outside thinking it was a dog. Got a closer look to find out it was a coyote and it charged me. Good thing my Elkhound was here. He stopped him and got himself attacked. I ran in the house and grabbed my .22 and by the time I got back outside it was too far away. He was trying to get to the barn to get my babies. Looks like I have to start locking them down again at night. At least till I get that sucker. He is a very brave one. He is the biggest one I have seen.

Thanks Laurie, that's important to know, too! I'm going out for breakfast, Ya'll have a great day and remember all the men and women who made and keep it possible for America to be independent!

My Pheasants and chickens share the same yard and one has chicks that squeeze through the bars and visit regularly. He lives in the layer coop.

Does Beth have the will power to shut down her incubator? :lau :gig  :gig :lau

She tried it ONCE since I've known her and it lasted all of about 30 days. :lau

Dh just asked me when I'm shutting mine off, I told him since it is 70+ years old I am afraid if I shut it off it won't turn back on. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :p i'm hoping o shut it down aug-dec then turning it back on for the NYE hatch along......

22 day....  :lau

I will ......you will see. Hey the 1st step is talking about it !!!  :plbb

I've been trying to shut mine down too, especially after my temp spike, but with everybody being so kind offering replacement eggs, how can I say no. I did cut back on the eggs from my flock I am putting in, but I need to monitor fertility, right.

Happy Independence Day everyone!

In NC... you only need a permit for ringneck pheasants.... and they would then have to have special housing.... If caught with one... without said permit... the fine is $2,000.00

Good Luck snagging the nasty predator. Be careful, though.
