Does anyone else see that emvickreys avatar pic is now mine? That's really strange... We pmed and now, on my computer at least, it is showing her pic as mine...
It looks normal to me. And by the way I noticed that I have BYC friend under my avatar. Thanks to those that voted for me.

I never count my grow out pen. I don't even consider them until they are at least 6 months old. Anything can happen to them along the way so I don't even count. As far as I am concerned that pen is empty.

I kinda hafta count my grow out pen. My babies share it with my Silkies til my other 3 pens get here.

Okay so Bantams and Silkies do not count. What else, cause this takes my count way down :p

If I don't count all the roos I've hatched this year, I'm practically down to nothing. Everything my youngest names turns out to be a roo. Out of my 11 oldest chicks (4 months old) I have 2 hens with a possibility of 2 more (I can't figure out Jim's Ameracaunas). So that is 64 - 82% roo-dom in that pen. My younger ones are not looking all that great either for hen to roo ratio. Ugh

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but it has seemed to work for me. Count the rows on the comb. 3 rows = boy. 1 row = girl. Is the NN a boy?

I guess I just have quails then... ( Marans don't count because there egg its clearly too different to be a chicken...)
I sometimes count the quail at first then there are usually some that die for some reason or another. They all go in a brooder for a couple of weeks then out to the grow pen. Unless I need to put morein the grow pen they stay there till they're almost ready to process. Then into a cage that easier for me to get one at a time out to process. I don't hatch many silkies any more. I have just about all I need right now. With corn not growing the feed will go up and I can't afford to feed a bunch of chickens thru winter. Especially with the way egg sales are going right now. Everytime I do count I don't count the quail for some reason.
