Well I am on my way home. Should be there by tomorrow afternoon. I sure miss all the swapping. Have about 13 hours of driving left to do, but we are gonna stop in KY for the night.

When I switched my girls over I did it cold turkey. Like you, I grabbed a couple and showed them how to peck the nipple until the water came out. For my chicks I use rabbit water bottles. I love my automatic system... so easy and the girls seem to like it, too. Plus there's less water mess in the coop. The only thing that I've had to do after 4 months or so is take the system completely apart and run hot water and bleach through it to kill the algae build up. I'm not sure how I'll like it in the winter. I'm guessing it will freeze so I'll have to figure something out closer to winter...

Do I leave the 2 hens sitting in the same box and stuff eggs under them or should I try to separate them into their own boxes? I don't really want to put them in separate pens since they are a established breeding trio. I guess the poor roo spends the next few weeks pacing outside the box waiting for them to be done?

I leave mine be...I have 2 hens sitting on 1 egg.

They are too cute. The rooster paces or sits on top of the box or next to them. The whole thing is comical. I have community pens right now, I don't even move the broodies out. If another bird dares get to close they blow up like puffer fish and attack .

I've collected Pekin ducks for a girl TWICE now because she kept telling me she wanted them & BOTH times she has backed out AFTER I went & got them for her. This is EXACTLY why I make everyone prepay when I have to go locate something for them or hold something longer than 24 hrs.
