Ugh I need advice you guys. Remember how my flock had cocci, I treated it, but all my chicks died?
Ok so I treated them again even though my adults had no signs. They have been very healthy and happy. Yesterday out of the blue one of my bantams was tripping and falling down. It's wings were down by the ground. I treated the water again.

This is getting frustrating and heart breaking. My dh and I have been talking about butchering the whole flock, hopefully we could eat them, and starting completely over with eggs from all of you. My chickens are from the hatchery in Idaho and Privett hatchery.

What would you guys do? There is 23 chickens and 5 ducks in a 600sq ft run. I have been raking the dust and grass and gathering the poop and trashing it. I am doing the deep bed method in the coop but we plan on cleaning it all out and not doing that method anymore starting today or tomorrow. They get clean water everyday and scraps and flock raiser. We also are fencing off half an acre for them to free range on because we hope that will improve their health.
Anyway you guys are all expierienced, we would love your advice.

I find if i feed crumbles or mash they just throw it a round and waste it. How do you stop your chickens from wasting so much food?
i feed pellets. I also put my feeders in the 4" high rubber feed tubs so the sides are higher and they cant knock it out as good. The chick have cutdown buttertubs on thier feeders.

Holy Cow you guys go through a lot of food. Hence why I sold all my Large fowl birds.

I was paying $9.99 for a 50lb bag of layer mesh and $15 for Medicated chick starter

Now when I went to pick up feed yesterday it went up $2.00 a bag.

I could not imagine lifting 120 pounds a day much less paying for it. How many chicken do you have??? I thought HOT2POT had a lot of chickens. Holy moly! well I can say I use much less feed now that I put in my homemade chicken feeders. They are not pretty but the chickens are wasting a lot less feed and I only add feed every 6-10 days. I have 7 pens with these. I was getting exhausted putting out water and feed everyday. I am an old woman LOL Then my friend showed me how to use these waters. Now I can spend more time just enjoying them. Okay till I go to Atwoods and buy feed. Our prices went up too.
