What you do when a flock is getting coryza

They do not have bad odor. Some sources say it's when coryza is combined with other bacteria that make the bad odor. I'm not sure here in Canada any university or labs will do an examination for me. My vet just tell me to cull and treat with antibiotics. I cannot get any tylans here, only tetracycline and sulmet.

Now I don't even quarantine them because I have no space, and they have all been exposed. The only strange thing I found is that I have a mother hen with 7 chicks, about 3 weeks old, running all around the barn. They drink from other chickens waterer, that are kept in cages, they forage on the ground with some older chicks that are already sick, but they look to be fine, nobody showed any sign of disease. But in a room beside the barn, the chicks, which are of the same age as these, are already sick, half of them died.

I have never seen coryza, but most people and most links I have read say that it smells rotten. Tetracycline can be used for MG, and both drugs may be used together to treat coryza. Tylan is also called tylosin, and your vet may be able to give you either tylosin powder for oral treatment or one of th other drugs. Coryza is known for causing huge swollen eyelids and sinus infections, thick yellow nasal drainage, and very sick birds. MG can be mild or more serious. Take some time and Google "common poultry diseases, " and look for the first or second link by University of Florida that lists most common diseases.

It won't end if you keep them. Do you plan to keep them separate from all your other birds forever? And always take precautions such as not sharing feeders, waterers, feed scoops etc between the sick and healthy birds? And always tending to the sick ones after you tend to the healthy ones and then disinfecting your shoes and clothes after and before you tend to the healthy ones again?

Coryza is never cured. The sick birds will always have it, whether they show symptoms or not. So if you do not do the above, all your birds will end up with it. If you don't want to do the above, then you will need to cull or accept that all your birds will be sick and you should never sell or give away any of your birds.
What about other birds that are around the chickens. Ducks, geese amd turkey do they need culled also?

Ducks and geese cannot get coryza. Turkeys can, though, and would need to be culled.
Ive been in touch with several vets and the state department that does all the labs. Its gonna cost me and arm and leg to get the birds tested either alive or with necropsy. Im not sure what they have. Coryza, mycoplasma, bronchitis, choleran and fowl pox. Syptoms seems so similar. Im afraid to keep and of the geese and ducks in case they will be carriers. If I end up culling all 50 birds I would want that meat to not be wasted and donated. Turkeys ,and chickens have swollen faces, some are sneezing. I heard some ducks sneezing. Chickens have small black scabs on comb and wattles. Male turkey looks to be getting some tiny black scabs.

If you can spend $98 for testing, have Zoologix lab do their Poultry Respiratory Panel for you. You just have to send them three tracheal swabs from an infected bird.

You dont need to get all of them tested. Just 1 or 2.
