WHAT???

PS. Carri just thought I would let you know an update on the "dog rescue" in your area I have talked to you about before. they are being brought to court I filled out all my paperwork for the lawsuit.

EXCELLENT. I'll see if I can't snoop around down town and find out what's happening.

It made the market look better with all the houses being sold, to folks that had no reason to even think of buying a house.
Now it's all backfired...
Anyone who get an ARM needs to have their head examined.
The only people who are making any money with the real estate fiasco are the creditors.

They slapped up some really nice condos nearby. About a third sold for their asking price of $500K and now the rest they're auctioning off for maybe a third of that...

Who knows what those people were going through? I try not to be judgemental.

I work in an industry - the airlines - that's circling the drain. I took a 42% pay cut after 9/11 and haven't had a raise since. Now there's lots of talk of bankruptcy anyway.

We've been pulling in our tentacles and reducing our expenses. I just sold my horse and trailer. My wife and I have been discussing selling our house. We have a bunch of chickens and two big dogs. I'd literally rather live in a tent in the woods we own free and clear than move into an apartment without them, but I'm not sure my family would agree.

Time will tell how bad things will be. It is what it is. In the meantime, we're all well-fed and healthy. Having traveled in places like Haiti and Zimbabwe, I can't feel too sorry for myself.

I saw this on the news last night too. The elderly lady I sit with started crying, she said and I quote " If I had to eat beans for as long as my beloved pet lived I would do that before I gave them up " What is this world coming to when we can just give up on a baby because times have gotten a little harder. IMHO NO WAY!

We were living with my DH's parents for 3 years because his mother was dying of cancer and his father got hit real hard by diabeties. They both ended up losing their incomes and applying and waiting on Social Security and disability. My DH was single at the time and had come home to take care of them. We ended up in a relationship and as fate would have it, I ended up moving in with them as well. She passed away about 6 months later, but we stayed on and helped pay the bills until hid dad got on his feet enough to carry them all. When we moved out we really didn't have anything for a house and with 3 kids (All mine from a previous marriage) we had to take out loans for furnishings etc. My DH had run up credit cards helping take care of his mom and dad and in the end we ended up in a bankruptcy. When we were renting, the landlord showed up around Christmas time and told us that our $650 a month payments weren't covering their $980 mortgage and they were getting the house repoed. We were 3 years out from our bankruptcy but still couldn't get a fixed rate loan with no money down. So, we ended up with a 11% ARM that readjusts in another month. Yup, it's crazy how you find yourself where you do. But, seeing as that the repo guys showed up at the landlord's place 4 days after we moved our last boxes out... what choice did we have? We live in a SUPER small town and buying was our best option, even at that rate. We are getting it remortgaged and will have a fixed rate soon. It's hard to make a $725 payment every month on a $72,000 house... NOT including tax or insurance. But, you do what you must do in order to make it. The kids have a nice secure roof over their heads... we stayed in a price range that would allow us to make our payments, even if our budget is tight and we pay our mortgage EVERY month so that when it comes time to refinance we are not in trouble with delinquent payments. Even if all else fails.... the bills must get paid! It's been hard, especially lately with my DH's gas costs almost doubling..... but we manage to get by.

We (people who end up with ARMs) are not all fools... some of us are just between a rock and a hard place.

I read this article too...and one about homeless women signing up to sleep in safe parking lots.

I was out of work for 12 months barely a year ago and somehow survived. I don't know how, but did. I accrued some more debt but am holding my own now.

I worry about what's happening to all of us. If I do get into a situation where I lose my house, I won't be happy, but darned if I ever give up my pets. My dogs especially, are what keeps me going. They depend on me and love me more than any human does, I know...even more than my own kids.

I couldn't betray them for anything.

No need to apologize... it's a horrible thing that ARMs even exist as they prey on the ignorant, the desperate and the niave. I just wanted to share our story as a testament to the times at hand

11% is our beginning rate! :| I think it tops out around 14 or something

Some people are having to live in tents, quite often, homeless people poor from forclosure, living the high life, unfortunately most people under 40 are doing this. They do not understand to start small and you wont have good china, you wont have designer chairs. Priority is now a word that we are all trying to learn. Some of us know what is important, yet if I was left to move into a shelter, having your car taken away, how can you keep your animals? What do you do, feed the dog/cat or child. Maine is unfortunately been in tough times for years, it is getting tougher. I know a couple people that just had their "home", an apartment they live in, sold right out from under them without knowing a thing. The landlord told them nothing. Now they work at walmart some where in Mass. They need to find a roof to put over them (they are considered squatters), with 3 dogs. One of this couple has polio and cannot just live in a tent.
What would you suggest they do? We are looking at some tough times.
Oh, and for the cat, I just sent on to the no kill shelter, starved and just wanted love. I have my plate full and yet when people come to my area, they pick up a cute kitten, no shots, don't bother neutering them, and everyone is happy all summer in their cottages on the lake. Come fall when the close up these cottages, the put puss'n boots on the doorstep and walk away. It will take care of itself.
I get 3-5 cats a winter, starving, balding and often hurt, because of the lack of responsibility of their humans, we have to catch them, ferrel at best, and send them away to live in a box at the shelters for the rest of their lives.
Atleast the people that are dealing with Forclosure (god bless you) they are taking responsibity for placing their pets in a shelter. The most heart wrenching thing a pet lover could do. Hope it never happens to me or you. Have a nice day.
