whats a good laptop to buy

I stayed home from work today to sign for delivery of my brand new HP Envy 14. I had been using an older iBook G4 until it finally kicked the bucket. I would have gotten another Apple product, but hubby works for HP now so we get a nice discount. I must say, I'm pretty pleased.

The only thing that I don't like is the two-finger scroll. It seems less sensitive to my small chipmunk-sized hands. It comes with HP's iTunes equivalent which is really growing on me, it as a really easy to use CD/DVD burner, webcam (haven't used, probably won't), the screen is nicer than my TV screen, we upgraded the video card so I can play games. Everyone says if you want MacBook Pro but don't want to spend that much, get the Envy. I'd have to agree.

With my HP laptop, I have a wireless mouse which it is great! Microsoft mouse, that is! Sometimes it is sooooo sensetive that it would literally fly all over the screen if you do not turn off your mousepad on your computer.

Now if Mac can make their prices more affordable, I would see MORE people using it.

As for the Vizio, forget it. Same for Acer. El Cheapo prices on laptop will not get you very far.

i have a dell i like the fact the dell service center is right down the road from me so if i do have a problem i can go drop it off shop and pick it up in a few hrs i have yet to use this in the 5 yrs ive had mine though
 
My whole family uses Dell, they are very good especially the Inspiron, although on the most recent one the mouse sometimes freezes for a few seconds.

They are very light and have a webcam built in and they are good for video storage, I use mine for edited pictures for my business and it is great!

The warranty is very good also and the customer service is very professional.

If you're looking for cheap, go with a Compaq. They are basically HP with a different sticker; if you can find them with a good enough processor (Like Intel instead of AMD) they are amazing!

Don't do acer, I hear they are AWFUL.

My uncle had a Toshiba, and he liked it okay, I don't think it was his favorite, though.

Macs are amazing. Period.

BUT!

Have you checked out Linux? It is AMAZING! It's what I am using right now! Pair up a cheap China laptop with a Linux CD.... *chills* So much free software, free updates!
