Whats a good treat for chicks?

throw a handful of fresh picked grass in there. they love that. I wouldn't do to many fresh veggies or fruits, theymay get diahrea

I've done crickets, grass, scrambled eggs and cantaloupe so far... all went over well except the cantaloupe. I've also thrown some stray caterpillars/worms in there - whatever I find out in the yard, lol! They are hilarious to watch.

Lol great video and great idea! The simplest things sometimes turn out to be the best! It always goes back to the KISS method...(Keep It Simple Stupid) haha

Lately I have taken my chicks outside and they don't eat the grass at all thought this was kind of weird but maybe its because they are still little. I would pick some and dangle it and they would take it from my hand then throw it down.

Also there was some bugs out so i killed one and had it lay on a stem i picked and gave it to one of the girls and she ate it then spit it back up and wiped her beak on the grass like trying to get the taste off her beak!

They are quite comical in all this and did not know if they were just plain out spoiled or if this was normal actions from chicks?

So far the only treat they seem to like is water down feed, hopefully they get to liking other things soon!

Very good info DDAwn!! Thanks, I learned something here too! As far as treats go, I let my girls 4.0 weeks old, have a daily "WormFest" from worms I gather each day from my compost pile. They also love yogurt with broccoli buds cut up in them along with some cornmeal and/or oats as well. I also fix them a bowl of oatmeal once a week . Just set it down and let the melee begin!!

Thanks, I think I will try the yogurt. Does it have to be plain yogurt or can it be mixed with fruit or anything like that?

I have a light outside my door and there are usually lots of small moths hanging out - so I just pluck a few (up to 10) and brush the dust off the wings so they can't fly and drop them into the brooder - OMG - chick-frenzy - they love them and run around chasing whoever has wings sticking out of their beaks - all gone in minutes - BIG treat, also I take some broccoli crowns and cut just the very tips off in tiny pieces (no stems) and they love it (for my older ones 10-14 days and up) and put a small dish of plain yogurt out too, although the first time they were afraid to try until I dropped a few bits of broccoli in - when they grabbed the borccoli they got some yogurt and found that "hey, that white stuff is pretty nummy too", now they will eat it as is.
