Thanks for setting it straight.

The thing that throws people is that "Dry Incubation" is really a misnomer...it doesn't mean that you don't add any water.

What it does is it helps to ensure that the eggs lose enough weight via evaporation so that the peeps inside have an adequately sized air cell. Too much humidity during Days 1-18 will hinder this necessary evaporation and the peeps will drown in excess fluid inside the egg.

That acurate Digital thermeter from WalMart for 8.00 was my dumbest move ever- I Didn't calibrate it make sure you do any time you use a new one - Mine was off by two degrees so my 100 F was 102 cooked eggs - Dry hatching is a strange thing because it either works or doesn't depends on your location- which of course varies House to house .

Good Luck to those trying it the first time

I don't add any water at all the first 18 days(below 30% humidity). I have hatched this way to an got about 50% hatch.
I usually up the humidity to the low 70s% for the last 3 days an get around 90% hatch rate with my eggs counting every egg that goes in on day 1.

See for your self how it works. Here is the hatching camera.
