Why is my BA, my only egg layer so far, chasing and pecking one of my Millie Fleur d'Uccle girls today? I only have 4 chickens, 3 girls and a boy, who have all lived together since the beginning of May, and have always gotten along with no problems. The bantams girls, who are about a week or so younger than the BA, aren't laying yet - but their combs are growing and turning redder so I think it won't be much longer before they start.

Is this a female pecking order thing that is happening now since the younger girls are maturing? Is my BA jealous of "her man" who is now showing affection towards the other girls?

Sounds like she intends to be top hen. When they say pecking order they mean it.
