What's going on with my chicken?

Live in South Carolina and currantly have 40 chickens. 6 are babies and doing well. My question is about a 1 year old laying hen. Yesterday I noticed she was getting picked on. Looked her over and she looked fine. Jumped in a nest and laid an egg. This morning I found her laying in the coop by herself. I picked her up (she let me and that was strange) checked her out again and she has gritty poop stuck to her bottom. Comb and eyes look good. Cleaned her the best I could with warm water and seperated her from the others. Left her with water. I've had chickens for 15 years. Sometimes things happen but I always try to help them out. This one has me wondering.

That's good to know. My neighbor has me freaking out over the bird flu that's going around.

She was doing all that yesterday. Feet, comb and eyes look good. Cleaned poop off her rear and didn't see anything moving.

What breed? Sometimes those that are "puffy" get messy poop or the cecal gets stuck their feathers back there. Assuming she never did it before, keep a close eye on her and see how she does. Check her over well for mites/lice. Does she free range?
