Hello my rooster is a little over a year and i don't know what's going on with his feathers there stringy it won't let me post a picture but it feels like more and more feather are starting to do that. So what is causing his feather to become stringy ? Is it a sickness or is he molting?? I've never had a molting chiken before this I my first time having chickens to

Where on his body are these stringy feathers? Roosters do have different feathering then hens do, they get long, stringy hackle (neck) and saddle feathers (on the back, right in front of the tail).

Yeh as cafarmgirl said a rooster usually does produce stringy feathers around the neck, saddle and tail this is for show or impressing the hens it natural. Hens usually have fluffier feathers to help keep her eggs warm. The way I sexed my cooks is by looking at the end of the tail and roosters have stringy feather so t isn't anything to fear it shoul be natural just let me know where the feathers are on ur rooster
