I'm here praying it's active enough for someone to see this and help. I have a roo about 1.5 years old. He's a buff cochin if it makes a difference. I went to get him almost a month ago because I was told get him first so he can get used to his new home before adding in all my hens. I check on him daily and spent lots of time making him feel comfortable. Every morning im up before sun rise so he can tell the world good morning outside and I'm back out right around sunset to lock him up. His area is CLOSED OFF. Even a cover for his long run. About a week ago I left town for the day and because I was paranoid didn't let him out but instead kept him inside. When I went in to check on him the following morning I noticed he had a heavy step and favored one foot. I picked him up and felt everything and checked his bum, nothing unordinary and I checked all over his feet and not a single scratch. I thought maybe he panicked since I wasn't there and strained something. I've been catering to him and keeping his food and water close. About 2 days ago he stopping crowing and its sent me into a panic so I gave him something in juicy fruits and veggies to see if maybe he was sick and struggling with pellets. I've suspected gapeworm but everything says its so rare....today he's breathing so hard and just lays on his side and ive noticed his wattle is getting a white patch....i don't know what to do but I feel like this is all my fault somehow. Can anyone help at all?

He probably severely injured himself while cooped up. Did he have access to food and water while he was cooped up?
He also somehow injured himself internally, most likely an air sac. Only time will heal.
All you can do is provide comfort care at this point. Try giving him feed mixed with water. You can add a couple of drops of Poultry Nutri Drench to the mixture to help him regain strength and heal.

He always has food and water. Normally pellets kept in his feeder and always fresh water. I just wanted to keep him safe while I was gone...he's become my sweetie and I didn't want the hawks to stress him or a stray dog get in somehow. I'm trying so hard to help him but I'm in tears. He won't even eat a banana and he loves those. I feel like im going to lose him...

I'm sorry you're going through this. Try and keep him hydrated as best as you can, add a few drops of the nutri drench to his water and give it to him to drink. An eyedropperful to the side of the beak should work.
